Leather Care

 Preventative Care:

Avoid Water and High Humidity. Excessive amounts of moisture and full water exposure tend to have a drying effect on vegetable tanned leather. This includes leaving your leather goods exposed to high humidity for prolonged periods. No worries though if you do get it soaked. Just let it air dry and then when it has fully dried apply a leather conditioner to your good to put back in the nutrients your leather needs.

Avoid High Heat. Just like a child or an animal that can suffer damage from high heat so can your leather good. This again will have a drying effect on your leather good and will remove nourishment from the leather.

 Maintenance:

We recommend keeping your good free of dirt and dust when possible so lightly brushing it off if it gets dirty is a great starting point. Vegetable tanned leather is a natural product and will patina and age with time and wear so allow your goods to show off for you like they were designed to do.

In addition to just keeping your good dirt free we suggest that you gentle condition your leather goods twice a year but a bare minimum of at least once per year with a reputable and reliable leather conditioner. This should keep your goods in tip-top shape.

We personally love to use The Chamberlain’s Leather MILK Formula No. 1
